The Bondo Youth Wellness Center (BYWC), was officially launched on the 9th day of December 2022 by the first lady Siaya County, Prof. Betty Murungi Orengo accompanied by the Dr Idah Odinga and other community and elected leaders from Siaya County. It was launched on the 9th of December 2022 which was also the last day of the 16 days of gender activism. The day was a culmination of various gender activism activities aimed at sensitizing the community of gender and human rights with an emphasis on the elimination of violence against girls and women.
The center targets Adolescents and Young People (AYP) aged between 10-24 years with Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights services and information. In the implementation of its myriad activities, the centre has embraced a RIGHTS-based approach by ensuring that the human rights are upheld; more specifically, we are committed to promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of all the target sub-populations without prejudice to any social characteristics.
We offer free SRHR services that include; STI screening and treatment, cervical cancer screening and referral, family planning, HIV testing, in-person and small group psychosocial support, age/sex-appropriate Evidence-Based Behavioral Interventions (EBIs), condom education and distribution and PrEP. Others include in/outdoor games, and dances as part of our edutainment activities.
